Josie is now 19 months old!!!

She amazes us with all that she can now comprehend, remember, and repeat.

COMPREHENSION: She seems to have a greater understanding now of quantity. She is using words such as another ("nother"), more, again ("gain"), other, and two (her number for any amount of things). She understands concepts like heavy and light, big and little, wet, dirty, and dark. In fact she has been fascinated by the darkening of the day for about the past month - she'll point outside and say "dark, dark" and then will want to go outside and search for the moon and stars.

MEMORY: She amazingly remembers certain people and situations for months! When Grandma and Grandaddy came to visit awhile ago they took Josie to visit a friend who had two cats. Two months later (this past weekend), when G & G visited again they asked Josie if she would like to go visit that friend again. Josie responded by saying, "meow, meow" (her current word for cat) - she had completely remembered those cats! She also daily talks about her friends by name...we go to a playgroup weekly and she'll out of the blue think of her playgroup friends and name all three of their names. She also was extremely fascinated by this truck that carted away a Pod storage unit next door and has been repeating this incident for the past week ("truck, up, down, man, truck" i.e. the Pod was lifted up, then down onto the truck, then the man operated a machine to unlatch it from the lifting mechanism...).

REPEATS: Josie loves to repeat words that we say to her. She usually likes to try out one of the last words in a sentence that we say to her. One of the bigger words that she has nailed recently was "temperature"! Her vocab is just growing and growing. She knows and can identify blue, green ("geen"), yellow, red, orange, purple ("purp"), pink, gray, brown, white, and black. She now says thank you ("dank ew"), excuse me ("scuse me"), hold you (in reference to me holding another baby), climbing, read, beetle, copy (when mama makes copies for work), acorn, and diaper. A couple of her own new created words are "KeyB" for kindermusic and "A Why Sha Ba" for her recent favorite song "London Bridges Falling Down".
